From July 30 to August 2, 2026, the town of Salapoumbé, Cameroon, hosted the fifth edition of the Baka Bantu Cultural Festival (FESTIBABA). Held under the theme 'Tourism, Tradition and Community Integration for Cultural Promotion around Lobéké National Park,' the event brought together over 1,500 participants. Attendees included communities from the borders of Lobéké National Park in Cameroon, as well as neighboring regions in the Central African Republic and the Republic of the Congo. Co-funded by UNESCO and the European Union-funded Natura Sud Est programme, the festival served as a vital platform for intergenerational dialogue, the transmission of ancestral knowledge, and the promotion of cultural heritage among Baka and Bantu peoples within the Sangha Trinational region.
