From July 30 to August 2, 2026, the town of Salapoumbé, Cameroon, hosted the fifth edition of the Baka Bantu Cultural Festival (FESTIBABA). Held under the theme 'Tourism, Tradition and Community Integration for Cultural Promotion around Lobéké National Park,' the event brought together over 1,500 participants from communities bordering the Sangha Trinational parks in Cameroon, the Central African Republic, and the Republic of the Congo. Co-funded by UNESCO and the European Union, the festival provided a dedicated space for intergenerational dialogue, the transmission of traditional knowledge, and the promotion of cultural heritage among Baka and Bantu peoples. The event emphasized the importance of community integration and the preservation of indigenous traditions in the face of modern challenges.
