From July 30 to August 2, 2026, the town of Salapoumbé, Cameroon, hosted the fifth edition of the Baka Bantu Cultural Festival (FESTIBABA). Held under the theme 'Tourism, Tradition and Community Integration for Cultural Promotion around Lobéké National Park,' the event brought together over 1,500 participants. These included communities from the border regions of Cameroon, the Central African Republic, and the Republic of the Congo. Co-funded by UNESCO and the European Union-funded Natura Sud Est programme, the festival served as a vital platform for intergenerational dialogue and the transmission of indigenous knowledge. Workshops focused on sustainable tourism and cultural preservation, aiming to foster dialogue among the peoples of the Sangha Trinational region while celebrating the unique heritage of the Baka and Bantu communities.
