The 2026 Baka Bantu Cultural Festival (FESTIBABA) promoted cross-border dialogue and sustainable ecotourism, highlighting the role of local communities in safeguarding cultural and natural heritage.

The fifth edition of the Baka Bantu Cultural Festival (FESTIBABA) took place from July 30 to August 2, 2026, in Salapoumbé, Cameroon. The event, themed 'Tourism, Tradition and Community Integration for Cultural Promotion around Lobéké National Park,' brought together over 1,500 participants from Cameroon, the Central African Republic, and the Republic of the Congo. The festival served as a platform to celebrate the cultural expressions of the Baka and Bantu peoples, featuring workshops on sustainable tourism, traditional medicine, and forestry laws. By integrating cultural activities such as traditional dances, songs, and handicrafts with ecotourism, the festival emphasized the essential role of Indigenous Peoples in the conservation of the Sangha Trinational World Heritage site.
