FESTIBABA 2026 fostered cultural exchange and the preservation of ancestral traditions among Baka and Bantu communities near the Lobéké National Park.

The fifth edition of the Baka Bantu Cultural Festival (FESTIBABA) took place from July 30 to August 2, 2026, in Salapoumbé, Cameroon. Held under the theme 'Tourism, Tradition and Community Integration for Cultural Promotion around Lobéké National Park,' the event brought together over 1,500 participants from Cameroon, the Central African Republic, and the Republic of the Congo. Supported by UNESCO and the European Union, the festival serves as a platform for intergenerational dialogue and the preservation of ancestral knowledge. This initiative is part of a broader effort to revive traditional weaving and other artisanal practices among Baka and Bantu women, ensuring that Indigenous knowledge remains central to both cultural identity and biodiversity conservation in the Sangha Trinational region.
