The fifth edition of the Baka Bantu Cultural Festival (FESTIBABA) in Salapoumbé focused on intergenerational knowledge transmission and regional cultural integration.

From July 30 to August 2, 2026, the town of Salapoumbé, Cameroon, hosted the fifth edition of the Baka Bantu Cultural Festival (FESTIBABA). Held under the theme 'Tourism, Tradition and Community Integration for Cultural Promotion around Lobéké National Park,' the event brought together over 1,500 participants from Cameroon, the Central African Republic, and the Republic of the Congo. Co-funded by UNESCO and the European Union, the festival provided a dedicated space for intergenerational dialogue and the transmission of ancestral knowledge between the Baka and Bantu communities. The event emphasized the importance of preserving cultural identity while promoting sustainable tourism and community integration within the Sangha Trinational region, ensuring that traditional practices remain vibrant for future generations.
