From July 30 to August 2, 2026, the town of Salapoumbé, Cameroon, hosted the fifth edition of the Baka Bantu Cultural Festival (FESTIBABA). Held under the theme 'Tourism, Tradition and Community Integration for Cultural Promotion around Lobéké National Park,' the event brought together over 1,500 participants from Cameroon, the Central African Republic, and the Republic of the Congo. Co-funded by UNESCO and the European Union, the festival served as a vital platform for intergenerational dialogue and the transmission of indigenous knowledge. The event featured workshops on sustainable tourism and cultural promotion, aiming to foster unity and preserve the unique traditions of the Baka and Bantu peoples living in the Sangha Trinational region.
