The 2026 Baka Bantu Cultural Festival (FESTIBABA) in Salapoumbé focused on cultural transmission, sustainable tourism, and fostering dialogue among indigenous communities in the Sangha Trinational region.

From July 30 to August 2, 2026, the town of Salapoumbé, Cameroon, hosted the fifth edition of the Baka Bantu Cultural Festival (FESTIBABA). Held under the theme 'Tourism, Tradition and Community Integration for Cultural Promotion around Lobéké National Park,' the event brought together over 1,500 participants from communities bordering the Sangha Trinational parks in Cameroon, the Central African Republic, and the Republic of the Congo. Co-funded by UNESCO and the European Union, the festival served as a vital platform for intergenerational dialogue and the transmission of indigenous knowledge. Through workshops on sustainable tourism and cultural awareness, the event aimed to foster unity and promote the rich heritage of the Baka and Bantu peoples while addressing the challenges of modern community integration.
